GLYDER Calls It Quits

October 4, 2010

Irish rockers GLYDER have called it quits. Guitarist Bat Kinane writes on his official blog, "Things changed for GLYDER before the making of the third album and since then it's been a struggle to keep going. Signing with SPV seemed like the Holy Grail, but the year it took to finalize the deal saw us all move in different directions. Financial strain and other factors wore away at the band for the past two years. The band seemed to be surrounded by incompetent people who did not fulfill their roles.

"I don't want to make personal attacks on anyone or get in to bitter feuds but you all know the story of the rotten apple and that's part of what happened to GLYDER. It's a long story and as my ties to the band are deeper than music, I won't be airing my dirty linen in public.

"I am a little sore as I put so much effort into this band but I will be taking a positive approach to the future and continuing on writing, recording and performing, blogging and doing what I do.

"I have material written for what was to be GLYDER's fourth album. I am a serious songwriter and I have chosen to make music my career so if any international bands out there want a serious player to get involved with my options are open."

Bat Kinane released a new solo album, "A Lifetime To Kill", in Ireland on October 1. The set will be made available in other territories over the coming months, and can be purchased via PayPal from BatKinane.com.

GLYDER's third album, "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow", came out on April 26 via SPV/Steamhammer. The CD featured stunning Mark Wilkinson artwork and a guest solo on the title track by one of rock's finest guitarists, Dave Menketti from Y&T.

GLYDER began its musical journey in 2004 at the annual Phil Lynott tribute gig "Vibe for Philo" in Dublin. Three albums and two EPs later, GLYDER had developed a very distinguishableand unique sound, blending its classic rock influences with a fresh and modern sound.

Over the past five years, GLYDER has toured Europe with some of the finest names in rock, including THIN LIZZY, WISHBONE ASH, DIO, W.A.S.P., THUNDER, FISH, Y&T, MICHAEL SCHENKER, HAWKWIND, GOTTHARD, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT and THE ANSWER. In 2007 they played at Gods of Metal in Italy with MÖTLEY CRÜE and VELVET REVOLVER, Sweden Rock Festival in 2008 with DEF LEPPARD and WHITESNAKE, Raismes festival in France 2008 with SAXON and ULI JOHN ROTH and Hard Rock Hell 2 in Wales 2008 with THIN LIZZY. GLYDER played its first headline tour in Spain in 2008 and headlined to 10,000 rock fans in India in October 2008 proving that it can win over any audience in any live situation.

In August 2009 GLYDER opened for METALLICA in Marlay Park Dublin.
